Happy New Year, we hope that 2022 keeps all families healthy as we continue to bring exciting learning to your children. We have been impressed with how the children have returned, and are so excited to be back and are ready for more learning! It has been wonderful to hear how they have had a great time with friends and families.
During Book Week this week, the children read the story, ‘The Brave Tin Soldier’ by Hans Christian Anderson – they couldn’t believe how old the story was! As part of developing their Oracy skills, they enjoyed making puppets and creating a 3D theatre to re-tell the story. They also re-enacted parts using actions.
We also looked at different emotions and how the Tin Soldier felt at different parts of the story, and created an emotion cloud. We ended the week with writing a love letter to the Dancer from the Tin Soldier.
Next week, for English, we will be continuing the theme of emotions, and will be reading the story, ‘The Jar of Happiness’ by Ailsa Burrows. We are collecting empty jars, so if you have any, please bring them in over the next 2 weeks.
To develop our fluency skills in Maths, we will be subtracting and adding one to numbers up to 10.
This term for PE we will be doing Dance and creating our own routines.
As the weather is becoming colder, please ensure that your child has a warm hat, coat, scarf and gloves for outdoor break. We will continue to do outdoor PE, so please check that your child has the appropriate PE kit to wear outdoors.
