We have all had an amazing and creative ‘Arts Week’! We enjoyed a fun filled week of all things creative! Dance, music, playing musical instruments, mask making, watching ballets, dressing up and performing!

Phonics

In Phonics this week, we have been learning the sound <oe> as in toe and bone.

English

In English this week, the children have been fantastic authors and published their own story of the ‘Firebird’ by the famous composer Stravinsky.  They have also used their imagination goggles to become conductors to lead an orchestra.

Maths

In Maths this week, we have been learning about ordering objects and creating tally charts. The children have been ordering Russian dolls and the size of countries using the vocabulary of largest to smallest.

Next Week

In phonics next week, we will be focusing on the ‘er’ sound as in ‘fern’ ‘bird’ ‘word’ and ‘burst’.

In English next week, we will focus on poetry. Our key text will be ‘Thinker My Puppy Poet and Me’. The children will experience different types of poems and create their own character.

In Maths next week, we will learn about the part whole model. Children will be challenged to write the number sentence and create their own model.

Please make sure your child has a winter PE kit with appropriate clothing for both indoor and outdoor activities.

Children need to bring a coat to school every.

Important

Please note that unless your child is absent, reading books will only be changed on Friday mornings. To help your child remember, we suggest that reading books are kept safe in wallets and placed back into school bags after daily reading. In order to develop fluency, reading books will be changed fortnightly.

We hope to see you all at our Fireworks Event.
