Dear parents and carers,

We cannot believe that we have already reached another half-term. This term has been full of wonderful learning including science experiments, storytelling, Shakespeare week and learning all about the Great Fire of London.

This week was our extra special Shakespeare week. The children have been studying A Midsummer Night’s Dream and using this to act, dance and create amazing artwork. The week culminated in a whole-school banquet on Friday, all of the children wore their new head dresses and enjoyed all of the delicious food. It was lovely to see so many families at Family Friday and the children were clearly very proud to show off all of their work.

Next term the children will be learning about the United Kingdom. It would be great if you could start looking at some maps and the countries within the UK over half-term.

Other information:

Please remember that we have Forest School after half-term. It is imperative that all children have the correct clothing, as these lessons will take place in wet and cold weather. Please ensure that all items of clothing and boots are clearly labelled and visible with names. Separate top and bottom waterproofs would be easier for children to manage independently. Boots can be kept on the welly rack outside classrooms and clothes put into a clearly named draw string bag, which will be taken home after each session. Please practice and encourage your child to change quickly and independently, perhaps practice this during half term break. Thank you.

A polite reminder that it is school policy that personal invitations are not handed out in class. This includes party invites. Please hand these out at drop off/pick up if you need to do this in school.

We hope you have a wonderful half-term,

Year 1 Team
