…and a week full of smiles! We have had a wonderful week in Year One thinking about all the things that make us happy and creating our own line poems. Look at the displays on our windows to see your children’s fantastic poetry!

During Phonics we have been consolidating our knowledge of ‘e’ (nest, head, said). We have been really impressed with the way the children have remembered the learning we have done so

In Maths we have been thinking about finding one more and one less. We have been using number stories to help us explain what is happening:

We have had some super sessions in the Art room this week exploring colour mixing and the primary colours. During our Topic sessions we have been comparing fashion in the 1960s and 2022.

Next week:

English: we will be writing more poetry based on the jar of happiness. During the weekend it would be great if you could speak with your children about who is in their family (extended family and pets included) and some of the things that make them happy.

Phonics: ow as in clown and ou as in cloud.

Maths: counting in groups of 10.

Thank you for all of your hard work this week!
