We have been fortunate this week to have an amazing presentation about birds  from one of our Dragonflies parents. We learnt lots of interesting facts, about early stages as dinosaurs, birds have evolved to fascinate humans with all their abilities on migrating, adapting to climate change or mimicking human speech. We ended the session with a ‘dancing -like -a -bird’ workout, which we  all  enjoyed.

In Maths this week we continued to explore the composition of teen numbers. We learnt how to use related facts such as 3+2 to work out facts like 13 + 2. In English we have continued to learn about fairy tales, and created a story map for the story, ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ In topic this week we created a rainforest aviary for our exotic birds that we made last week.

We ended this week with a skipping workout. We applied different skills and learnt how to skip.

Next Week

In English: We will continue with our learning about fairy tales, and will create our own fairy tale by adapting the original story of, ‘The Three Little Pigs’.

In Maths: We will use non standard units of measurement to measure different lengths of objects

In topic: We will learn about animals that live in the ocean and the issues they are facing.

Please remember that Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel starts from Monday – we are looking forward to seeing more children actively walk, cycle or scoot into school.

Have a wonderful weekend,

The Year One Team.
