Well our last week of this first half of the summer term has been super busy as always and full of excitement! Our final Traditional Fairy Tale has been ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and we learnt the story through active storytelling and small group dramatic role play. In Phonics, we have reviewed all the digraphs, trigraphs and tricky words that we have learnt so far. We have challenged ourselves in Maths work by focusing on problem solving using our addition and subtraction skills. Children have designed some amazing bridges that are strong enough for the Billy Goats Gruff to cross and for the Troll to hide under! We also wrote a ‘text’ message to that Troll and Wolf telling them how they need to change their ways!
Next half term we begin our final topic – ‘To Infinity and Beyond!’ however, this will begin in the second week as the first week back will be our school ‘Arts Week’ and the theme will be ‘Touch the Sky’.
There will be no rainbow challenges set as there will be four days full of fun-filled creative activities including music, drama, art, poetry and dance etc! This will then be celebrated as a performance on Friday.
Our main Topic the following week will be learning about all things space-related, starting with an exploration of different spacecraft. There will be a very dramatic start to introduce our topic, but huge apologies for not sharing any more detail as it would spoil the surprise!
Gentle Reminder for keeping safe in the sun. As the days are getting hotter we need to ensure children are safe in the sun, therefore, please
*send your child in with a CLEARLY NAMED sun hat
*sun cream that is also CLEARLY NAMED- this is for health and safety reasons
Please DO NOT put the sun cream in your child’s bag but HAND IT TO THE CLASS TEACHER.
- Please apply the sun cream BEFORE the school day.
- Children will then be monitored as they re-apply it at midday themselves.
Children return to school on Tuesday 4th June at the normal time.
Happy Half Term Break Everyone!
