In Reception this week the children have been working hard on their cities. The children have enjoyed constructing homes, volcanoes and schools, alongside many other structures and sharing these with their adults at Family Friday.

The children have also enjoyed using the outdoor large construction to form different buildings together.

In Phonics we have finished the Sounds Write Unit 11. We have introduced the ‘qu’ sound. Next term we will start off by revising unit 11, before continuing on to learn more of our Unit 12 sounds. Can you have a go at writing some of these words and sentences at home: King, ring, sing, bang, sing and sting. There is a duck that can quack and run quick

For our Math’s learning this week we have revisited previous areas of learning such as subitizing, 1:1 correspondence, 1 more, 1 less and odd and even numbers. Activities the children have particularly enjoyed include representing numbers on a bus to explore composition of the number 5 and making bundles of lollypop sticks to practice 1:1 correspondence. The children have also enjoyed exploring the composition of the number 10 through Numicon matching games (can you find your partner?).

In PE this week the children have continued to explore Dance. Our aims have been to create shapes and to work collaboratively with our partners. Working in small groups the children have enjoyed creating their own dance sequence, including 4 or more moves, building upon the experimentation of body shapes explored last week. We were particularly impressed by how the children practiced their moves and tried their very best to repeat these. At home can you have a go at, making some of your big and small moves. Change the level of some of your moves (low, high, in the middle).

Next term we are looking forward to starting our new project traditional tails and we will be having a very special visitor the first week back.

We hope that you all have a fantastic half term.
