This week in Reception we have continued to explore and construct our cities. The children have been inspired by shape and have really enjoyed using the medium of paint. All of the children have particularly enjoyed visiting our school art room, where they have had the chance to work closely with Mrs. Smith and to use lots of different materials. A skill we have been focusing upon this week has been learning lots of new ways we can fix different materials together.
In Phonics we have been learning the wh and ng sounds. Below are some challenges for you to have a go at in your home.
when, wham, whick, ring, bang, ping, king and song.
Can you have a go at writing this sentence:
The king had fun when the song went ring.
In Maths this week the children have been exploring composition. We have enjoyed working in small groups and have been showing all the different ways we can compose the number 10 on a tens frame. There are 10 altogether, what could your 2 parts be?
In PE we have been exploring Dance, through shape. Can you have a go at making as many different standing shapes with your body as you can? Can you try and make as many different shapes on the floor as you can? We were particularly impressed by the children’s creativity and teamwork displayed in these sessions.
We hope that you have a wonderful weekend,
Reception Team
