This week our projects have really started to take shape. The children are busy creating a city for Botley (our coding friend!) to live in.
We have loved spending time with Mrs Smith in the art room and have constructed some amazing structures. In Pumpkins the children have been building the Shard, a football stadium, a museum, pyramids and the Statue of liberty. In Sunflowers the children have particularly enjoyed constructing Big Ben and discussing the buildings and key features of London. The Tube and red London bus were strong favorite’s. In Acorns the children have enjoyed constructing a coliseum from cardboard tubes and an Eifel tower.
Phonics
In Phonics this week we have been writing some fantastic sentences including:
Chad felt the chill from the wind as he ran.
We have also been building and reading words that include the ‘th’ digraph:
thing, thump, this, thenĀ
Math’s
In Math’s this week we have been exploring composition. The children have been practicing representing a range of different numbers on the tens frames and shown their knowledge of partitioning, odd and even numbers and 1:1 correspondence.
Physical Education
In Physical Education we have continued to develop our moving in different ways. We have also explored catching a bouncing ball from sitting, standing and with a partner. We were particularly impressed by the children’s teamwork and resilience throughout the lessons.
