Phonics- Our phonics this week recapped Units 3 and 4. This included the sounds- b,c,g,h, d, f, v and e.

To continue this learning at home you could support your child to read and write the words – bag, tag, cot, cap, hit, hop, dig, din, van, vet, fed

Drawing Club – We have been reading the book Tiddler and have had a go at creating our own Tiddlers! We also practised rehearsing the story in our classroom with our friends. Here are some of the words that we have learnt: traipsing, daydreaming, tardy, conversing, abandoned, reunited and celebrating.

Maths- In Maths we started with the Numberblocks episode ‘Stampolines’. We looked at the prints made by each number and explored how the shapes changed depending on the number. We noticed that the higher the number, the more shapes we could make. We continued to investigate this at the painting station as we printed our very own ‘Stampoline’ patterns!

Project- The children loved thinking about the stages of their lives this week. Lots of children shared pictures of themselves as babies and we enjoyed guessing who it could be. We noticed lots of similarities and differences and enjoyed using the sentence started ‘In the past…’. Lots of children enjoyed seeing photographs of their family members at different ages. Thank you so much for contributing photographs on Tapestry. It made our learning this week extra fun!

Art Skill of the Week– In our craft area we introduced split pins. The children have been using them to make their creations moveable and interactive!

Next week, we will be finding out about Amelia Earhart and Neil Armstrong.

Don’t forget, PE kits need to be in school by this week.

Have fantastic weekend,

The Reception Team!
