We have had a lovely and busy week in Reception. We have continued our learning about different celebrations, this week we focused on Weddings. The children have been very busy writing their own wedding cake recipes and making tiered cakes using play dough. They have impressed us with the way they ordered numbered presents to make their own number lines. We have also seen some wonderful wedding venue building both on a small and a large scale… a super week for the Acorns, Pumpkins and Sunflowers.

Next Week: we will continue our Festivals theme by thinking about the Nativity story, this will really help us to get ready for our upcoming shows!

Key Things to know…

Book Focus: Different Nativity themed stories

Group Time Focus: this week we will be working on our performance skills as actors, dancers or narrators.

Maths: Adding one more

Phonics Focus: sounds h, b, f and l

Rainbow Challenges (independent, open-ended provision)

Red Challenge – To make a Nativity character puppet

Blue Challenge – To order Christmas puddings or stockings by size (smallest to biggest).

Yellow Challenge – To write the names of different Nativity characters/props for our box office role play areas.
