We have had the best time settling in with all of our friends this week, lots of lovely new friendships are blooming across Sunflowers, Pumpkins and Acorns.
In our outdoor area we have been perfecting our tidy-up routine and it has been lovely to watch all the classes come together during this time. In the event of a flood in the school lots of the little ones showed fantastic teamwork in our outdoor construction space, they built a a brilliant dam to restrict the water from flowing throughout the rest of the school.
In Drawing Club, we have been exploring the traditional tale ‘The Gingerbread Man’, all classes loved reading the story and joining in with “run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread Man”. We learnt lots of new vocabulary such as, ‘leap’, ‘accelerate’, ‘pursue’, ‘block’, ‘cunning’ and ‘soggy’. It was interesting to see the different characters that were drawn during group time and the magic codes that bring our characters to life!
Our focus book this week was ‘We are Family’ by Patricia Hegarty; the children enjoyed modelling what their families looked like and drawing who is in their family! We also listened and moved to the song ‘ABC’ by Jackson 5 and learnt to sing the nursery rhyme ‘Peter Taps’.
Next week, we will be focusing on the book ‘When I Grow Up’ by Jon Hales. During carpet time and playful learning the children will be exploring different careers and thinking about who they would like to be when they grow up.
Please could all children bring in named welly boots.
Snack donation basket will be outside each classroom at drop off in the morning.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Reception Team
