Thanks to everyone that came out to Sports Day on Monday! We learned about inclusive sports in the morning with John Wallis from Power2Inspire. We participated in many events.

The bean bag toss with John Wallis.

We played football with a jingling ball and blindfolds.

Floor lacrosse in the hall.
This week we have been looking at the transition to Year 1.
In literacy we wrote about what we were looking forward to in Year 1, here are some of the children’s comments:
‘I am looking forward to making new friends.’
‘I am looking forward to seeing my new teacher.’
‘I am excited to do mathematician work because I like challenge.’

Super great about going in Year 1
In maths we built 2D and 3D shapes using clay and lolly pop sticks, we looked at what properties each shape has after we built them. During independent learning time the children drew pictures of what they wanted to see in their new classroom next year and labelled them.

I made a pyramid
We also visited the Butterfly and Bumblebee classrooms to familiarise ourselves with the new surroundings and imagine what the first day might be like. We spoke how moving to Year 1 might make us feel, and if that emotion was negative, how we could make ourselves feel better:
‘Scared because it’s a new classroom but it’s ok because some of my friends will be there to.’
‘Excited because we have chicks next year.’
‘Sad because our (reception) teachers won’t be there.’
We also shared our home learning projects this week to a group of our peers. Each child had the chance to present their project and answer questions on their chosen country.
