This week in Reception the children have been sharing their knowledge of traditional tales including the three little pigs, Gingerbread man and Three bears. This is our theme for this half term so it has been wonderful to find out about what everybody already knows. Throughout all three Reception classes the children have been creating their own wall displays working together to share ideas and learn from each other. In Sunflowers, we created our own beanstalk… Can you remember which tale this is from? In Acorns, we created a Gingerbread Man display and in Pumpkins we have made a Three little pigs display.

In Maths we have been measuring, sorting, categorising and ordering. The children have all impressed us with their amazing problem solving skills and enthusiasm. We have learnt how to measure objects around our classrooms using a ruler and compared these items. In Phonics we have been writing CCVCC and CCCVC words such as twist, clump, swift. Can you have a go at writing these at home? We have also been writing short sentences including: ‘Cam got the strap on the bag in a twist. The bag split. The drink spilt.’

Next week we will be starting gymnastics in Reception. Please can you make sure that you bring in a full PE kit, sunhat, sun cream and change of clothes (all labeled) on Monday morning.

As the weather gets warmer and we are all enjoying the sunshine more, please ensure that you apply sun cream on your children before coming to school and teach them to apply this independently (we are unable to assist with this in school).

Well done for a fantastic first week back. Have a wonderful weekend!
