This week we have been focusing on the term ‘cooperation.’ We focused on working together as a team, completing different challenges. Some children were blindfolded and their partner needed to instruct them to paint a picture. We also worked together to move from one side of the playground to the other using only 3 planks of wood to stand on.

We looked at mascots from previous Olympic games and then made our own out of Lego.

We used iPads to take pictures of each other with our mascots.

In maths we have been recapping 2D and 3D shapes and their properties. We have also been looking at the symmetry of shapes, we had fun using placing lines of symmetry onto different flags from around the world. This week we focused on the sport ‘synchronised swimming.’ We discussed how they need to work together as a team to be the best they can be. On Thursday we watched part of the England vs Wales match, many of the children wrote about the football and drew picture illustrating what was happening. We have been using timers a lot this week to see how quickly we can complete activities, some children timed themselves around a scooter track and others explored how quickly they could read a variety of tricky words.

This week we also did some planting in our outdoor area with so
me parents, we really enjoyed getting our hands dirty!

In our role play area children have been writing menus for their restaurant and serving food to their classmates, and outside we had an olympic training camp role play for the children to test whether they had what it takes to be an Olympian.
