It’s been a wonderful start back for the children in Reception following the half-term break.

Phonics – Our phonics this week we recapped Unit 11, focusing on sounds such as /sh, /ch/ and /tch/.

To continue this learning at home, you could support your child to read and write the words: ‘batch’, ‘ditch’ and ‘witch’.

Please note that this week, instead of reading books, the children will be getting a printed copy of the text ‘Chad’ to focus on their Unit 11 sounds.

Maths – In Maths, we focused on number bonds to 10 on a tens frame.

Project – We pre-assessed the children’s existing knowledge of traditional tales, ahead of beginning our Project next week.

Art Skill of the Week – We have been experimenting with paint to create art in the style of Jackson Pollock.

TastEd – We explored peppers, carrots and celery, thinking about the sense of touch and the textures of the different vegetables.

Next Friday, we will start our first session of Outdoor Learning activities. As the children will be doing these activities in the forest area, please can you ensure that on a Friday, children are all wearing full-length trousers/leggings to avoid being stung by any nettles or brambles.

Well done to all the children for a fantastic first week back. Wishing you all a restful and relaxing weekend!
