Thank you to all of the children in the Pumpkin, Acorn and Sunflower classes for a wonderful week. All the staff have thoroughly enjoyed the learning this week about Penguins.

Other exciting news from Reception is about the first week of the Rainbow Challenge. The Rainbow Challenge is part of the continuous provision, the idea is that children are encouraged to access all areas of the provision. Challenges this week included- painting pictures with dots, building antarctic dens and making predictions about how we can melt the ice. The children responded really well to these challenges- more to come next week Reception!

Other learning this week:

  • We have been practising our fine motor skills by decorating penguins with patterns- this will help our handwriting.
  • Learning about different penguins.
  • In phonics we have concentrated on the phonemes h,b,l and f.
  • Partitioning collections of 4 in different ways.

Next week:

We will be thinking about exploring Antarctica, we are especially excited about the visit from the British Antarctic Survey next Tuesday. In phonics we will be covering the phonemes j. v, w and x. We will be exploring the different ways we can partition 5.
