Our first week of full time school! We have had lots of fun in Reception this week, with the highlight being lunchtime!
The children have all got used to the lunchtime routine really quickly and are now happy and confident eating their lunches. Each day, the children sit on the same table with their class learning groups and the lunchtime team and a few year 6s help to serve the lunches. Most children have been eating plenty of their lunch.
We have started Drawing Club, this is an invitation for the children to come in their learning groups to work with their class teacher. During these sessions, we start with a whole class input with key vocabulary before giving the children drawing based challenges. Our Drawing Club this week was inspired by The Colour Monster. We used words including ‘discombobulated’, ‘assist’, ‘shimmer’, ‘timid’, ‘sobbing’ and ‘enraged’. The children are introduced to these new exciting words using definitions and actions and are encouraged to use them verbally in a sentence. We then all have several opportunities to draw in our Adventure Books.
Next week, Drawing Club will be inspired by The Gingerbread Man.
Our focus book this week was Super Duper You! Next week, we will celebrate our wonderful families as we read ‘We Are Family’. If you have not already, please do email in your family photo to be added to our Family Board.
Reminders:
Please bring your child a pair of wellington boots to be stored on the stand outside their classroom.
Snack donation basket will be outside each classroom at drop off in the morning.
As we learn about families next week, we are going to create pebble art. If you are out and about over the weekend and manage to collect any pebbles we would love them to be donated to your class on Monday.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Reception Team
