This week:

We can hardly believe how quickly this week has gone! We have been so busy in Reception learning about the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. During group learning we have been retelling the story thinking about the different ways the characters would move and the things they might say.

We have also made the perfect porridge…not too hot and not too cold, but just right! To help us remember how to make it again we have been writing instructions.

To help baby bear we have been building new chairs from different construction materials. We were focused and persevered until the new chair is finished.

In our daily phonics sessions we have continued learning new sounds: i, n, m and d. Our tricky word this week was ‘the’. Over the weekend, see if you can spot this tricky word in books or magazines, or even see if you can use the word ‘the’ in a sentence.

Next week:

From Monday, we are going to set the outdoor area up before school starts. When you arrive in the morning please resist playing with the toys and come straight to your classroom. We would like to talk as a class about the different outdoor activities available for playful learning.  So we do not want the resources to be untidy for the start of the school day.

Our focus story next week is Owl Babies.  We will be making maps, building nests and talking about our families. We are also starting an exciting music project where we will be challenging ourselves to experiment with song, movement and Makaton.

We will also be doing observational drawing.  Please come to school with a picture of you and your family to use for this.

Reminders:

Thank you to everyone who brought in junk modelling materials this week, we greatly appreciate your donations and please keep them coming!

During the week several jumpers have gone missing.  Please can you make sure that everything is labelled. Also, if you do accidentally take another child’s jumper home, please do bring this back into school.

Please do bring a water bottle with you to school everyday.

Well done everyone for another wonderful week in Reception!
