Wow! What a super busy week we have had in Reception this week. There has been an amazing ‘buzz’ throughout our school and Reception children have loved playing a big part in all the creativity!

In our learning we have been exploring music, art and drama with special creative sessions with Mr Hayward and Harine!

Session 1: Rain

Our theme has been ‘weather’ and we have learnt a ‘Rain Song’- Thank you all so much for sending in clear plastic bottles, we have used these to create ‘rain makers’ and filled them with colourful lentils, rice and pasta! We enjoyed using these to to shake and sing!

Session 2: Sun

We all learnt the actions and signed to the popular song ‘ The sun has got his hat on…..’  Can you remember the actions to the song?

Session 3: Rainbows

As we listened to William Tell Overture: ‘The Storm’ by Rossini, and we took our pens for a walk! We let the music enter our ears and travel through our bodies down our arms and out of our pens! We created wonderful shapes and lines to match the music.                                    We then listened to ‘Nocturn op. 9 No2’, another piece of music to build on from our patterns, this time we added colours to match the music and a variety of feelings too!

We also learnt the actions to the Beatles song, ‘Here Comes the Sun’- Ask you child to perform it for you!

We created suit cases filled with weather and holiday words, worked collaboratively to create a wonderful poem and extracted parts of it to write on travel tags which we tied to our World Map Gate along with the whole school!

Finally, this afternoon we came together to celebrate as a whole community! We gathered together on our field and sang Jacob Collier’s song ‘Hajanga!’
