This week we were surprised to find out that there is a school dedicated to the education of young aliens. We found out about this school in the story ‘Welcome to Alien School’. We were shocked by the spellings, sums and space-ghetti that were part of the school day at Alien School! This inspired lots of alien themed playful learning and challenges… we enjoyed turning a photograph of ourselves into an alien. We then imagined that we were the headteacher of Alien School and thought about what the ‘Golden Agreements’ might look like. We wrote alien shopping lists applying our knowledge of blends. In our Art Session with Mrs Smith we created googly eyed Aliens using modelling clay,  googly eyes and pipe cleaners. On Thursday, we worked together as a team to complete our very first sports day. We practised throwing accurately, shooting into a goal and combining many skills we have learnt in PE to complete a fantastic obstacle course.. What a busy week in Reception.

Next week’s Story: Aliens Love Underpants

  • Our Maths focus is going to be on number bonds to 10 as well as revisiting and creating our own patterned underpants.
  • In Phonics, the children will be reviewing all the phonemes, digraphs and trigraphs as well as Tricky Words we have learnt so far.

Rainbow Challenges

Due to an extremely busy week, we are going to roll over the rainbow challenges from last week. We will also be including additional activities linked to this week’s story to support children’s understanding of “Aliens Love Underpants”.
