Welcome back Reception, we hope you have had a fantastic Easter break and have been enjoying the gorgeous weather these past two and a half weeks. Are you feeling refreshed and ready for an exciting new topic. This half term we shall be learning about different traditional fairy tales. Can you think of any traditional tales? Which is your favourite and why?
We were super impressed with how well everyone settled after Easter break. We have had a busy four days learning about Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have been writing our very own versions of the stories and performing these to our friends and teachers. Outside, we have enjoyed following different recipes in the mud kitchen, making porridge and building pieces of furniture for the three bears after Goldilocks had broke them all!
Next week’s learning:
Group Learning: In Group Learning, we shall be introducing the children to the fairy tale: Little Red Riding Hood. Please click the picture below to familarise yourselves with the story:
Who are the characters in the story? What happens in the story? During our adult-led sessions the children will be applying their phonics skills to read key phrases linked to the main characters – Little Red Riding hood, the Wolf and Grandma. We shall then use our detective skills to match each statement to the correct characters developing our reasoning skills.
Phonics: In Phonics this week we shall be teaching the children the digraph ‘ur’ as in fur and turn and the trigraph ‘ear’ as in hear and tear.
Maths: In Maths, this week we will be learning about sharing equally between two groups and finding halve of shapes and amounts.
Parent Announcements:
As the weather is getting slightly warmer into the Summer months, as a school we request children bring in a clearly named sun hat and sun lotion to wear during playful learning outside. This is for the children’s personal health and safety to protect them when your children is engaging in their outdoor learning.

Have an amazing weekend and we shall see all on Monday ready for a new week of learning!
