This week:
This week, we looked at the book How to Catch a Star. The book inspired us to dream big and set ambitious goals for our play and learning. Outside, welly boots became moon boots, construction blocks launched space shuttles and moon rocks were discovered in the sand area. We also learnt about shapes, looking for them in drawings and sign posts, before creating our own shape shadows in the outdoor area. On Wednesday, we had a musical maths day where we investigated how to use our counting to support making music. We sang counting songs, counted beats and made digital music on iPads. We were also extremely lucky to have an adult of one of our reception children visit us to introduce body percussion to us and to show how we can create the sounds of a rain storm using tapping and patting.
Each week in Reception we have been learning a new Makaton sign. This week, we learnt the Makaton sign for lizard. Have a go at practising this sign at home. How many times can you use this sign during the half term holiday?
Next half term:
Next half term our topic is Celebrations. We will be learning about a range of celebrations that take place in different locations at different times of the year. If there is a special event that you celebrate at home we would be delighted to hear about it.
Reminders:
We return to our classes on Monday 31st. We are looking forward to welcoming you back into our reception classes. When you come back please remember your book bag, your water bottle and your P.E. kit. Please check that your name is still in all your school clothes. Also, bring back your decorated paper plates so that we can share your art work and talk about the celebrations that are important to you and your family.
