Nativity filming has begun! We have been so impressed with how many of the children can confidently remember and perform their lines, so many thanks for helping your child with this at home. We are sure your Oscar nominations will arrive soon, please wait patiently.
In phonics we have introduced Unit 4 sounds and will continue this next week. The children have been starting to write sentences and we are all very impressed with their determination to succeed!
Please find the sounds and words we have covered below:
Unit 1: m, a, t, s, i
Unit 2: n, o, p
Unit 3: g, c, b, h
Unit 4: d, f, v, e
Some of the words we have been learning include: ‘mat’, ‘sit’, ‘sat’, ‘pot’, ‘Tom’, ‘hit’, ‘pig’, ‘bat’, ‘cot’, ‘vet’, ‘fed’.
If you would like to support your child with their phonics at home, SoundsWrite provide a free course for parents:

Next week, the children will receive a reading book to bring home with them. The reading books link closely to our phonics lessons. You may find that they seem too simple for your child, however please use this as an opportunity to ensure your child has a deep understanding of each separate, individual sound. The books give you many examples of the words and sentences that we use in our lessons, so your child may wish to use them in other ways, such as writing their own sentence using that word. We will send the books out for your child to begin enjoying and will provide further ideas and information in due course.
Books will be changed every other week but we will read with your child weekly. Please ensure that your child brings their reading folder into school every week on the following day-
Monday: Bananas
Tuesday: Blueberries
Wednesday: Strawberries
Thursday: Grapes
Friday: Apples
It has been wonderful to see some posts from families on Tapestry. Please be aware that sometimes these posts may not receive a comment but they will be shared with the children at school. Anything you post on Tapestry is visible only to staff members in school, they will not be visible by any other parents.
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we are looking forward to seeing everyone ‘go for gold’ next week.
