We have had a super busy week in Reception as story time detectives, we worked as a team to correctly match all the statements to some of the characters in Little Red Riding Hood. Fantastic reading everyone! In Maths, the children were super impressive when finding half and sharing amounts equally. We have been making the most of the sunny weather this week, thank you to all parents that have provided their child with sun hats, we have been speaking to children how to stay safe in the sunshine – wearing hats, staying in the shade, wearing sun cream and having plenty of water to drink.

Next week’s learning:

Group Learning: In Group Learning, we shall be introducing the children to the fairy tale: The Three Little Pigs.

Who are the characters in the story? What happens in the story? During our adult-led sessions the children will be completing speech bubbles to describe what each character might say.

Phonics: In Phonics this week we will be teaching the children the trigraph ‘air’ as in hair and chair and the trigraph ‘ure’ as in pure and cure.

Maths: In Maths, this week we will be revisiting 2D shapes: rectangle, square, circle and triangle. We will then be introducing the children to solid to 3D shapes: sphere, cylinder, cube and cone.

Parent Announcements:

As the weather is getting slightly warmer into the Summer months, as a school we request children bring in a clearly named sun hat and sun cream to wear during playful learning outside. This is for the children’s personal health and safety to protect them when your children is engaging in their outdoor learning. We ask that these remain in school.

We have put a permission slip on WisePay – please sign if you agree or disagree for your child to be supported by an adult with the application of the sun cream (we are able to squeeze/spray but we encourage independence when the children rub it in themselves).

Please see the poster: Sun Safety Poster

Dates for your diary:

Please be aware school is closed to pupils on Friday 30th April and Monday 3rd April.

Have an amazing weekend and we shall see all on Monday ready for a new week of learning!
