Over the past week, Acorns, Pumpkins and Sunflowers have been exploring the story of the Goldilocks and the Three Little bears. It has been lovely to hear the children retelling key events from the story and enjoying our tuff spot activities. We have also been reading the text ‘In Every House on Every Street’, this text has given the children an opportunity to explore different buildings, rooms and positional language.

In Drawing Club, we had a go at creating our own characters, thinking about where the bears might live and also building a map for the bears to help them find Goldilocks.  We learnt the words demolished, guzzle, slumber, piping hot, perfect and cramped these words helped bring our imagination to life!

This week, in phonics, we have introduced the children to sounds: n/o/p

We have also been building some words including: pin, pit, Tom, map and nap

Please give these sounds and words a go at home to support with embedding their learning. We will be sending reading books home again on the 10/11/2023,  for children to embed the new sounds that they have learnt.

To support the children with understanding what they should do if they have upset somebody, the children have been thinking about the idea of saying sorry and talking about times when they have said sorry to make a situation better. We have explored this idea further through the story of Goldilocks and the three bears. The children have been considering how Goldilocks might feel and what she could do to say sorry (write a card, go and see the bears etc.).

In maths, we have continued to learn all about the numbers 1, 2 and 3. The children have been producing their own collections of 3 and exploring when a collection is composed of 3 or not 3. Can you have a go at making your own arrangements at home?

Next week:

  • Please return reading books Thursday
  • Thursday and Friday INSET days
  • Please bring in any spare clothes as we are running very low
  • Please refer to blog post regarding how to use your Childs reading bookmark
  • Any natural resources that can we donated for the children to use in our mud kitchen would be welcome.

We hope you have a great week!
