9th October 2020

It was brilliant to see so many of you at our ‘Reception Curriculum Meeting’ last night; thank you for the kind feedback we received. We are delighted that the children are entering school happy and talking at home so positively about what they are learning.

Please see link below for last night’s curriculum meeting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL3Ol3ra24s&t=18s

Please visit this link, to support your child and familiarise yourselves with the correct pronunciation for each phoneme.

We would also like to say ‘well done’ to all our Reception children for being absolutely brilliant and remembering the ‘Golden Agreements’. Maybe they can tell you what they are?

Children have thoroughly enjoyed this book which explores and encourages children to ‘open up’ and discuss how they might be feeling today or in the past.  We discussed each emotion and the link to a colour and thought of alternative words to describe each one.

This week: We read ‘The Colour Monster’ and ‘The Colour Monster Goes to School’. Children were able to relate and contribute their ideas and feelings of when they started school. Many of our activities were linked to these stories: roll the emotion dice and recall a time you felt this way, Monster collage, counting and matching counters to the Colour Monster, Colour Monster Spoons, paint your feelings and Colour Monster speech bubbles.

Next Week: Please click on the picture below to read the story.

Book Focus:    ‘Super Duper You’

Group Time Focus: Why I am Special..

Maths Focus: Cardinality – we are continuing to developing our counting skills. We shall be reading ‘My Granny Went to Market’ by S.Blackstone and C. Corr to support our counting skills.

Phonics Focus: sounds i (down the body, dot for his head), n (down Nobby, up Nobby and over his net)

Have a lovely and restful weekend,

The Reception Team
