Learning Celebration Event!
We are so proud of the children’s learning so far this year. Please check your emails for details of an event about your child’s learning for Reception parents and children in the second week of the Summer Term.
This week
This Week:
As the Spring Term comes to a close, we wanted to say a HUGE well done to everyone in Reception. We have had an amazing term packed full of learning. When we look back at all of the things we have done and achieved our minds boggle. We have planted cress seeds, saved the school from an alien invasion, made new friends, designed our own gardens, written books about an enormous turnip and so much more!
This week we have enjoyed a wonderful maths day, thinking about infinity. We built number blocks, played maths games and shared our questions about big numbers.
“Infinity is on and on forever”
“It is just not stopping”
“It’s the biggest number…even more than 15”
“You can’t stop infinity”
The Easter Bunny was out and about in Reception, making phone calls and leaving notes for the children. We had lots of fun writing to the Easter Bunny and seeing what he will reply. Maybe the Easter Bunny will make a visit to your house over the holiday and you could write him some letters.
We have finished of our plants topic with the story of Jack and the Bean Stalk. We have been acting out the story and talking about how to grow the prefect beanstalk. We have also been building castles out of 3D shapes and signing this song.
Next Term:
After the holidays we are starting our new topic “Once Upon A Story” all about traditional tales. The first week back we are learning all about the story of The Ginger Bread Man.
After the break we are also starting Phase 4 phonics and continuing with our learning about addition and subtraction.
Home Learning:
Hopefully we will have lots of lovely weather over the Easter break. The Woodland Trust have lots of ideas for fun outdoor learning. Please keep reading at home over the holidays. We have not sent reading books home over the break, but you can access lots of different books and games via Bug Club.
Reminders:
Please bring your child’s PE kit back on the first day of term
We are starting our Reading Dens next term. Any donations of rugs, sheets or pillows are very welcome.
Thank you again for a wonderful Spring Term.
Have a restful break, enjoy spending time with family and friends. See you back in the Summer Term ready for more super learning!
