This week has been short but sweet. The children have returned from their holidays refreshed and ready to take on our final summer term and all that it has to offer. The children have impressed us with their readiness to learn and their enthusiasm for our new topic.

Friday has been a real highlight with the children dressing up and helping to make our picnic of fairy bread, fruit kebabs and lemonade. They really enjoyed the picnic, sharing food and making happy memories with friends across all three classes.

Next week we are looking forward to delving into the story of the ‘Three Little Pigs’, learning about different materials that can be used to build a house and which ones might withstand different types of weather (like big storms or huffing and puffing wolves!).

Our new sounds for phonics next week will be: ear and air and we will be focusing on the tricky troll word ‘she’.

In Maths we will be revisiting the idea of finding doubles before moving onto sharing into equal groups.

Our rainbow challenges will be:

Yellow challenge: Retelling of the Three Little Pigs, using the iPads to record their stories.

Blue challenge: helping the Three Little Pigs to complete their order forms by doubling the building supplies.

Red challenge: Pig paper plate puppets, making a 3D nose and attaching ears.

Purple challenge: Building three different houses using different construction resources- which is the strongest?

Green challenge: Using large construction to build a house that we can sit inside.
