Fairytale land has needed more help this week from the Reception Police Officers. We came back to school after the Bank Holiday to find a letter from  Little Red Riding Hood’s mum, who was very cross with the wolf. She explained to us that after terrorizing the Three Little Pigs, he has now ventured into her fairytale and has tried to eat up Granny and her darling daughter! In her letter, Mummy Riding Hood asked if we could return to Police Headquarters and write a letter to the Wolf.
Before writing our letters, the children held a whole class) session to discuss what we wanted to tell the Wolf. We agreed he needed an consequence for his actions. All possible ideas were given. Later the children donned their police helmets once more to write their letter to the Wolf and tell him what the consequences would be if he carried on with his pesky ways!
In Maths we have been thinking about subtraction and methods of recording to help solve these type of equations. The children have been playing subtraction games by exploring ‘take away’

Next week

Our story focus will be on The Three Billy Goats Gruff, we will be learning the story through active storytelling and small group dramatic role play.
