It has been a wonderful week of learning in Reception this week.

Phonics – Our phonics this week we looked at Unit 10 (CCVCC words).

To continue this learning at home, you could support your child to read and write the words: ‘stump’, ‘twist’, ‘sprint’ and ‘swept’.

Maths – In Maths, we focused on exploring the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, considering the similarities and differences between features such as faces, sides and vertices as well as the names of different shapes.

Project – We continued with our project, ‘Building the World’ and the children have been continuing to create designs for buildings that they want to feature in Botley city. During playful learning, each of the classes has been exploring buildings from cities around the world to inspire them. The cities explored were:

  • London – Pumpkins
  • Paris – Acorns
  • New York – Sunflowers

Art Skill of the Week – In groups, children have continued to take their designs to the Art Room and work with Mrs Smith to make their buildings using junk modelling.

Next week, we will continue to design and create more buildings for Botley City.

Well done to all of the children for a wonderful week of learning!
