This Week
This week has been a very busy one in Reception, a book monster was on the loose in our classroom! Nibbles has broken free from his own book and been eating the stories from our book corners. We have made posters and wrote letters to Nibbles to let him know this is not acceptable. Later in the week a very curious letter arrived in Reception from Nibbles explaining that he just needed some reading tips. We wrote to Nibbles to explain to Nibbles that he needed to stop eating books and read them because there is a lot more joy from stories this way.

To top it all off…the Gingerbread man was also causing mayhem in Reception. He came into Acorns classroom after school and left some clues! The children made different presents and devises for the Gingerbread man.

We have continued with our phonics, focusing on the tricky word some this week and consolidating our knowledge of digraphs. In maths we have been thinking about sharing and all of the different ways to make 5.

Next Week
Our story next week is The Snow Queen, we will be making snow themed playdough and exploring the story through drama and music.

In phonics we will continue to learn new tricky word come and the digraphs “ch”, “th” and “ai” that we are finding challenging. In maths we will continue with our work on addition and subtraction using different resources.

Home Learning
Over the bank holiday weekend why not explore coins and money. Have a think about all of the different ways you could pay for something that costs 20p or 50p.

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend, laugh, play and enjoy the sunshine! We look forward to welcoming everyone back again next week.
