This week we have launched our Space topic! The children had a wonderful time creating and exploring the new space themed areas of our classrooms.

We have started to find out about the planets, the sun and the moon and think about ways of travelling in space. In phonics, we focused on tricky words some and come and worked on phase 4 blends. In maths, we developed our knowledge and understanding of the number bonds to five.

Next week, on Monday morning there will be something unusual in the playground! We will be using this for our group learning time on Monday so please ensure your child does not touch or move any of the equipment set up before school.

Phonics: Tricky words ‘were’ and ‘there’ and continue to work on phase four blends.

Maths: We will work on those number bonds to five with a focus on subtraction.

Other information:

Next week we will be making musical instruments ready for our performance during art week and would really appreciate any donations if possible. We are looking for pasta, rice or lentils in any shape, colour or variety, newspapers and clear plastic bottles. If you have any spare at home that you are able to donate please pass them onto your child’s teacher on Monday.

Forest School-

Next week Acorns will begin their forest school sessions.

Please ensure that you provide your child with clothing that you do not mind getting wet and muddy. Name each item you send into school and ensure all belongings are in a named bag on the day of the session. Please see the list below of the items needed for each session. This can also be found in our Forest School Handbook which is attached for your information. Forest School Parent Booklet

  • A waterproof coat
  • A long sleeved t shirt

Sun Protection-

On arriving at school, children need to have:

  • a sun hat (ideally one that can stay in school)
  • sun cream applied
  • a small bottle of sun cream (to be reapplied after lunch)

Have a wonderful weekend,
