Although it was only a short week we still managed to fit in lots of learning!
We all loved reading Kipper’s Birthday and exploring our own birthday celebrations. We have been making lists of the items we need for a party using our phonics knowledge, cutting out pictures to design a healthy and unhealthy party plate and drawing candles on cakes to represent different ages. During our maths inputs we have been exploring repeated patterns. Maybe you could give this a try at home. What sort of patterns will you create?
It has been real pleasure to talk with so many families during the learning conversations about the wonderful start that the Sunflowers, Acorns and Pumpkins have had in their first year of school. Thank you to all the families that attended these learning conversations and we hope that you found them as positive and helpful as we did.
This week you should have received an email inviting you to activate your Tapestry account. If you have not received the account activation email please let your child’s class teacher know on Monday and will fix any problems as soon as possible. We hope you enjoy seeing photographs and observations of your child’s learning so far. Feel free to add your own observations at home! Our topic this half term is festivals so it would be great if you could share photographs and descriptions of your own family celebrations.
Optional Tapestry/ Home Challenge:
To build and create your own musical instrument out of recycled materials. You could make a guitar, a drum or a shaker. See example link below:

Next week’s learning: We will continue our Celebration theme by thinking about the colours, sounds and dance movements we can hear/see in Carnivals.
Book Focus: A range of stories and non-fiction texts around the theme of ‘Carnivals’
Group Time Focus: this week we are looking forward to spending time with the children in the different areas of the provision, extending play and developing social interactions.
Maths: Ordering numbers 1-10 and beyond.
Phonics Focus: sounds u and r.
Rainbow Challenges (independent, open-ended provision).

It has been really positive to hear how many children have enjoyed sharing their reading books at home. Please continue to bring your reading folders back to school each day especially on book change days-
Pumpkins- Mondays
Acorns- Tuesdays
Sunflowers- Wednesdays
For some additional reading support (and even more online books to share at home!) have a look at the Oxford Owl website. You might be particularly interested in their support with blending .
Enjoy your long weekend,
