This week

We have had another exciting week in Reception, packed full of playful and exploratory learning.  We continued our “All about me” topic by looking at the book Elmer and talking about similarities and differences.

It was also art immersion week in Reception and we worked together as a team to create a giant Elmer in the art room.  The children chose different coloured tissue paper, scrunching and sculpting the tissue paper before gluing all the tiny bits of tissue paper into place. We also used our observation skills to draw some elephants using just a pencil!

During the week we wrote party invitations to our special elephant party. On Friday we had our elephant party where we listened to elephant themed music and thought about how elephants would move to the different tempos.

We have also been looking at new sounds in phonics.  We learnt about s, a, t and p as well as the tricky word ‘I’.

Next week

Next week we are exploring the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will be making porridge and using our drama skills to retell the story thinking about the different characters.  We will also be continuing our phonics with i, n, m and d and learning the tricky word ‘the’.

Reminders

Please could you bring in junk modelling material (boxes, plastic bottles and cardboard) for next week. We are making new chairs for Baby Bear!
