This week, Meadows have continued to enjoy another Traditional Tale – The Little Red Hen. Not very many children were familiar with this wonderful story about a hard working hen, whom receives no help  from her rather lazy friends, however, they do want to help her eat her bread! There has been a lot of rich dialogue about whether the Hen ought to forgive and share or simply feed her own chicks. What would you do and why? We also discovered what ‘grains of wheat’ are and where the flour we were using comes from.

Our Nursery filled with the delicious smell of freshly baked banana bread and we enjoyed singing the ‘Peel banana, peel peel banana,’ song as we peeled, chopped and smashed the bananas! We all enjoyed ‘breaking bread’ together and recalling the recipe step by step.

Next week: Continue Theme of Traditional Tales

Focus Book: The Gingerbread Man https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0uV6nWxO-w

Teacher Led Group: Continue to ‘tickle our taste buds’ with discovering root ginger and making spicy Gingerbread Men Cookies. In addition, taking a closer look at other root vegetables and we would really appreciate any donations of the following e.g. sweet potatoes, turnips, garlic, radishes, fennel, potatoes, carrots, celeriac, and turmeric. All linked to healthier eating.

PD EAD Speaking– suggest another way that the Gingerbread man could get across the river.
