What a busy week with all kinds of weathers!
We welcomed some very hot days, during which we enjoyed a lot of water play outside. In the mud kitchen, the children got busy making all kind of cold beverages and desserts: ice creams, cold chocolates, lemonades and pies with berries were on full swing!
The story of the week was: Naughty Bus by Jan and Jerry Oke. With eye-catching photographic pictures of a toy London bus and its owner, this book describes the adventures a naughty toy might have in the house and in the garden! The children shared wonderful personal experiences while reading the book which is one of the most important elements of a successful reading session! Why don’t you ask them if they have any naughty toys at home too?
This week, we also welcomed some very special visitors. They currently live in small cups, and they get bigger every day. They will go through radical changes within the following weeks during their metamorphosis journey! What a word!!! Can you guess what they are???????
During our maths moments we continued exploring the concepts of ‘more than’ and ‘less than’ through playful activities and by counting things and people in our environment! Research shows that building children’s understanding of these types of mathematical language supports their later mathematical learning. At home, you can try to apply math language words like ‘more, less, and the same’ while making a cake or preparing breakfast!
Finally, this week we moved to the second session of TastED which was based on the sense of touch. The children turned into ‘touch detectives’, touching and describing a variety of fruits and vegetables with different textures, all hidden in food bags! Then, they enjoyed eating some of them as part of a healthy snack!
A kind reminder that next week we will be hosting another popular Family Friday at 14:30! We can’t wait to show you the children’s adventures and exciting learning moments, all captured in their books!
We wish you all a restful weekend!
The Nursery team.
