What a fantastic start to the second half of the Summer Term!
Meadows have returned to Nursery super happy and full of energy!
We have began with the popular traditional tale of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and there has been a lot of huffing and puffing!
Next week: We will continue to build on this story with lots more creativity. Children have asked if they could design and assemble real pig houses and dress up as the Big Bag Wolf! We will create a healthy hamper for ‘Grandma’ and have a picnic treat in the forest!
Please continue to support your child with becoming familiar with the story and focus on all of the key vocabulary that is on the last blog. Perhaps you can mix it up or think of an alternative ending? Encourage your child to retell it in the correct sequence or read it aloud together in different voices!
Maths We will learn about shapes and look at shapes in our environment. Next time you are out on a walk, be a ‘shape detective’ and see how many different shapes you can spot. Maybe take a picture or draw it! You could use recyclable materials or spaghetti to create a textured house for the pigs. It would be great to share your findings next week. Key vocabulary-square, rectangle, oblong, circle, oval, triangle, cube, cuboid, sphere, sides, corners, straight, round, flat, faces and edges.
We will continue with our singing and movement to music along with other messy outdoor play.
Important Notice- Keeping Safe…….Sun hats, Sunscreen and Safe school Shoes.
We need your help to keep children safe whilst running outside, we ask that children wear ‘ black, closed-toe school shoes’ with good support around the ankle, preferably with ‘velcro’ fastening and no laces unless children can tie them independently. We understand that the weather is improving and some days can be quite hot, however, we know that you will understand that it is important to keep safe and it is also part of our school uniform policy. Our metal bikes and other wheeled vehicles are heavy and can be quite painful if someone where to accidently ride over toes! Thank you for you understanding.
Please ensure your child brings a clearly named water bottle everyday and named sun hats are to remain at nursery for daily use. We do not want children to miss out on experiencing fun activities outdoors, however, if they do not have a sun hat they, will not be able to play outside on sunny days. If you have any spare hats you would like to donate, it will be hugely appreciated.
Please could you send in an empty cardboard box (cereal box size) with your child’s name on it on Monday ready for our ‘Piggy Houses’.
Have a restful weekend!
