Our new starters have settled so well, we are so proud of the older children for being so welcoming. Our Tapestry posts should be up and running from this week, look out for pictures of our learning towards the end of each week.

Our topic is still the weather, we are looking at rainbows in the next two weeks. We love how beautiful their colours are against the dark stormy sky. Have you seen a rainbow recently?

We are focusing a lot on constructing and building. Big blocks, lego, bricks and other construction toys are fantastic tools to develop shape awareness. When you build together, can you name different parts of the 3D shapes such as sides, corners, round and flat side? Send us a picture of something you build at home, we are sure your creations will look fantastic!

During our short phonics session we will be listening out for alliterations. Alliteration is the repetition of letters or sounds that is used for emphasising or stressing importance. They usually happen when words that start with the same sounds (not necessarily the same letter) are repeated within the same phrase or sentence. We have been thinking about which sound our names start with – can you find other words with that same sound at home?

During free play time, the children love to go outside with their coats on, so we have been encouraging independence in this (as well as putting their wellies/ shoes on by themselves). Here are some ideas of ways the children can practice to do this at home:

This week we have started planting daffodils. Meadows have loved putting the soil in their plant pots and potting the bulbs. We are so excited to see how they grow over the next few months!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
