This week at nursery, we have continued learning all about vehicles. Our story of the week was the wonderful The Naughty Bus by Jan Oke, which inspired lots of awe, laughter and imaginative play as the children followed the mischievous bus on its adventures! You can listen to the story here: Kids Read Aloud: Naughty Bus – ALIVE Story Time with Miss Ferreira (Learn at Home Read Aloud)
We also shared our own experiences of travelling in different vehicles. The children loved hearing about Mrs Campbell riding in a tractor to help pull a car out of the mud, Mrs Rodoula sailing in her father’s boat on the Aegean Sea, Ms Lamber travelling by train to the big City of London and Ms Eliana flying in a helicopter on her wedding day! We talked about all the different ways people can travel — on land, in the water, and through the air — can you send us a picture of a special journey you had?
One of the most exciting moments this week was releasing our butterflies into the garden. The children watched carefully as the butterflies spread their wings and flew away. It was a lovely opportunity to talk about life cycles, caring for living things, and changes in nature.
We also celebrated the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough with a special lunch party.

He is a important person because he has helped millions of people learn about animals, plants, and the natural world through his television programs and books. He has spent many years exploring different habitats and teaching people how to protect wildlife and care for the planet. His work has inspired children and adults to appreciate nature and understand why looking after the Earth is important.

The children made beautiful crowns using recycled and repurposed paper, helping us think about ways we can care for our planet by reusing materials creatively. We enjoyed talking about nature, animals, and the amazing world around us. You can watch a short episode about him here: David Attenborough Gorilla Quest animated story for young kids – CBeebies

Have a wonderful weekend!
