We have had a lovely week in Meadows, enjoying a lot of outside time in the autumn sunshine.

We have also introduced our dark tent in the classroom where lots of the children have enjoyed exploring the differences between light and dark using colourful torches. We are looking forward to continuing this exploration next week with our tent and introducing our lightbox.

Our stories this week were Owl babies and Only One You.

Owl Babies tells us the story of 3 little owls, who suddenly waking up in the night finding their Mummy gone. They are worried and scared but keep reassuring each other that she would be back. It is a fantastic story to help children tackle anxiety around separation. We loved retelling the story using our owl puppets and imagining what it would feel like to be Sarah, Percy or Bill (‘I want my Mummy’)!

This week we have started our key group times where a small group of children do an activity with Miss Wilson or Mrs Campbell. Our group time this week started with reading Only One You. We then shared photos of our families, talked about the people at home who look after us and belong to our safety circle.

We have four key groups in Nursery – Snowdrops and Bluebells (Mrs Campbell), and Poppies and Buttercups (Miss Wilson).

Soon we will be adding the groups as a step on our self-registration board, where the children will be able to add their faces to the group they are in.

We hope you are finding the transition songs helpful, please listen and sing them with your children if you wish.

Donations

Thank you all for the donations of fruit and crackers for snack times, we have loved trying lots of tasty treats and it is very much appreciated!

Next week we will be exploring different ways to make faces in our playful learning. We are therefore looking for any contributions of funky vegetables for paint printing and our harvest display as well as colourful magazines or newspapers for us to cut out different faces.

As always, have a lovely weekend and we will see you next week.

Nursery Team.
