This week in Meadows was filled with meaningful conversations, hands-on fun, and joyful explorations.

Our focus was on exploring identity and diversity. During circle times, we talked about Black History and racism, looking at our skin colour, hair and eyes, and reminding ourselves that while we are all different, we are all equal and special. We shared books to support these conversations in an age-appropriate and positive way and watched a short video about Rosa Parks and her very special story. This helped us begin to think about fairness, equality and standing up for ourselves and others.

We spent time talking about safe people in school. The children looked at photos of staff members which helped them recognise their trusted adults and build confidence in their environment.

Our stories this week were:  Hair Love by Matthew Cherry which tells the beautiful story of a little girl and her dad trying to create a very special hair style to match a special day! We also enjoyed a Bilingual Story Event, where we welcomed parents into the classroom to read the book: Ouch by Ranghild Scamell and Michael Terry which follows a little hedgehog’s adventures while he tries to build a cozy nest to spend winter.  It was an amazing opportunity to celebrate the different languages we speak! We were lucky enough to listen to the story in Lithuanian, Korean and Hungarian! Thank you all for attending!

This week was rich in emotional learning. We saw children developing empathy, recognising trusted adults, celebrating their individuality and beginning to understand fairness. Through stories, songs, maths and movement, we created opportunities for every child to feel seen, heard and valued.

A kind reminder that all spare clothes should be returned cleaned and as soon as possible to the nursery as we are short of spares! Please make sure your child arrives at the nursery with a t least 2 clean changes of clothes and an extra pair of shoes. Thank you for your cooperation.

We wish you all a restful weekend!
