This week we have been looking at the story ‘A squash and a squeeze’ by Julia Donaldson. We have been acting it out, looking at lots of different farm animals and trying to spot the rhyming words in the story. We have also enjoyed singing lots of animal songs and tried to move like them – bouncing like a kangaroo, shuffling like a penguin and galloping like a horse. Can you try this out and about this weekend? Please share any photos and videos on Tapestry!
In phonics, we have started to count and spot syllables in words. I wonder if you can count how many syllables are in your name? Can you clap them too? Can you tap them on your lap?
We have had an exciting day of exploring apples in our first Taste-Ed session this week. We learnt to use all our senses when exploring foods – looking, smelling, touching, tasting and listening. We found that the apples sounded crunchy and tasted sweet!
In our small group times, we have been looking at life cycles and learning how frogs grow! Our caterpillars in the classroom have grown lots in the last couple of weeks, they turned quite big and hairy, and a few days ago they crawled up to the top of the dish and made their cocoon. Watch our short time-lapse video about the transformation.
Remember, next week is shorter, children finish on Thursday at 1.30 pm and there is no school for the afternoon children that day.
During next week, please look through our lost property basket to take home anything that is yours. We have a lot of unlabeled items, and they will be added to the main school lost property pile on the last day. Thank you!
